We've just been on a Baltic Cruise. we took LOW DENOMINATION dollars and Euros. These were accepted everywhere. Euros more than dollars actually. Get low denomination as sometimes they give you change in the local currency! We don't think it's worth getting local currency on board as there is a commission charge. Enjoy the holiday- we loved the ports of call!

Hi Went to the Baltic on a cruise in June and no problems using the euro in Helsinki as it is their offical currency. If you are likely to use the public loos in Helsinki make sure you have some one euro coins as all the toilets we found were money in the slot ones and that included the mens!! Quite a few of the shops and cafes in Tallin were also happy to accept the euro. In Norway,Sweden and Denmark it seems normal practise to pay for even small purchases i.e. two coffees with a credit card. Just received our credit card bill with our purchases on and we were charged a good rate of exchange and no fee for using the card abroad.Think it worked out cheaper than buying small amounts of currency on board and them exchanging it back at a loss.Hope this info is of help to you.

Hi as Buckley says you can exchange currency on board but it is better to do it before you go. Remember that the day in Germany is the only place that uses the Euro. On my cruise earlier this year I found that Denmark except Euro at reasonable rates and Estonia and Russia will except US Dollars. But Sweden and Finland (though most places excepted Euro's) the rate was atrocious. Best rate of all everywhere was on my credit card.

Hi Yes you can get currency on board but it is normally not a good rate of exchange ,take some euros and US Dollars with you and you can change those from one to the other if you run short.
