Cruised on the Norwegian Jade in mid August and although the ship itself and the food was fine, the fact that we had 800 children on board spoilt the cruise for us. There were many complaints from fellow cruisers and crew about this. Most of the blame was placed on the parents of these children for not controlling them when they were being rowdy and rude in the public areas. We were unable to use the swimming pools and even the card rooms as they were everywhere from morning right until the late hours. I shall remember not to cruise during the school holidays again.

I sympathise entirely. However, the only way to be sure there are no children on board (and it only takes half a dozen to create havoc) is to choose an adult only ship. Ventura was in Bergen when we were in June and although it was not the school holidays there appeared to be hundreds of children on board. Unfortunately children can be loud and boisterous, it's the nature of the beast, but they are also pack animals (turn of phrase, no offence intended) and they can be very scarey in large numbers when they are showing off to each other. Parents seem to abdicate responsibility when on holiday so 'family ships' are out for us. Each to his own, I'm sure there are enough ships to accomodate all our tastes.
