i booked this cruise after losing my tandem crossing on the qe2 cancelled as i was ill. so after getting my money back i fancied this one.
FLIGHT OUT
i booked my own flights on AIRCOMET a spanisah airline that i have not heard of before. heard a lot of negative words and i can see why. a 13 hour flight from madrid to santiago with no entertainment at all!!
HOTEL
i arranged a pick up from airport to golfo a suburb of santiago. lovely hotel with a fridge, sink but no microwave!! i was told that everwhere accepted dollars but not here! had to come back to hotel for lunch and some change.
TOUR
next day i had a pickup to take us around city, vino del mar and to valparaiso for my ship. a lovely tour apart from the guide shutting the door on my finger!! hads a lovely lunch byy the beach had pisco sours that were really strong!! then onto the ship.
EMBARKATION
afterentering the building signed the health check, check was very quick, then onto a bus to the ship.
CABIN
a cc grade cabin on deck 10 at the fromnt of the ship, shame people walked around in front! had a conceige that i never saw? a fridge, sofa, shower a lovely large room.
RESTAURANTS
this was freestyle but with only 5 restaurants not that much choice. 4 seasons, terraces, sports cafe(which i did not like),bistro which you have to pay for, and trattoria. i thought you had to pay for the terraces but no.
FOOD
it was good nothing extra special, hads my favourites creme brulee and tiramisu thast were very good. i only ordered a glass of wine once as half a glass is not reallyb worth it. they did not really push if you wanted a drink or not.
PORTS OF CALL
COQUIMBO,IQUIQUE,ARICA,CALLAO,PUERTO LIMON,KEY WEST.
took independant tours in many of the ports of call organised by members of cruise critic. these were very mucvh cheaper that the cruiselines ones. ones i took from ship was la serena in coquimbo very good. then key west was the conch train, and aquarium and shipwreck well worth it.
ENTERTAINMENT
i thought they were great choice, different every night, the jean anne ryan dancers did 3 shows. in the other bars 2 did neil diamond which was very good.
OVERALL
i thought it was well worth the money, on a much smaller ship so i saw many of the people i knew most times. the service in the dining room was slow at times as the extra staff werew being used ion the buffets where were not allowed to touch the food.
