Sailed on Norweign Jade for a long weekend from Fri 27th June to Sun 29th, with the ship leaving the port of Southampton. We didn't expect too much as it was just a cheapy weekend break, so as our expectations weren't high we weren't disappointed. This was my 16th cruise, but my husbands 43rd, so as you can imagine he's a bit of an 'anorak' when it comes to cruising and cruise ships. He'd done his homework on this one before we left, and she used to be the Pride of Hawaii which was only launched two years ago. She wasn't a success in that region of the world, so changed names and became the Norweign Jade. The ship's decor has a very definate Hawaiian theme, which did puzzle a few passengers who didn't know her history. The carpets throughout are perhaps best described as 'pyschodelic', and I certainly wouldn't want to be on board in rough seas! I felt slightly seasick looking at them in calm water! The ship is most definately still geared to the American market with a variety of 'fast' piped music wherever one goes, with one often overlapping another. The casual dining is pretty much based around salads, curries and fries, but I can't comment on the main restaurants as we couldn't get a booking on the first evening and chose to get casual dining Garden cafe on the second evening.
If this had been my first cruise I would have been a little disapointed, but it was what it was. A cheap weekend break which we'd paid £169e, for an outside cabin. If we could have left it until 3 or 4 days before departure we could have booked an inside cabin for the fantastic offer price of £99. Personally the ship was fine for the few days we were aborad, but I wouldn't fancy being on her a for fortnight. The layout seemed to confuse most people, and she lacked an 'interesting' central atrium. We sailed on Navigator of the seas last year, so anyone who has been on her will know exactly what I mean by a really great atrium. Good luck all who sail on Norweign Jade, and just accept her for what she is and enjoy yourself. Any holiday is always what you make it!

| Quality of Food | |
| Garen Cafe. Couldn't get a booking in restaurant ist eve, then chose casual 2nd eve. Lots of pay for dining, which we didn't visit. | | Entertainment | |
| The show Shout consisted of 4 female dancers/ singers who did their best. No spectalcular costume changes or scenery, but hey!Comedian was very static so not everyone could see his act. Some jokes we'd heard before on ships and he goaded Saga mercilessly. | | Shore Excursions | n/a |
| Couldn't book to go to Roen, so stayed in Le Harve. Train strike due that afternoon, so couldn't make our own way there. | | Staff | |
| All staff pleasant and always said hello etc. | | Children's Facilities | n/a |

| Nothing outstanding or worth a mention. | | Cabins | |
| We had an obstructed outside, but for this mini cruise is was fine. Wouldn't want this cabin in the caribbean and risk missing all the dolphins! | | Overall Rating | |
