this was our first cruise and we enjoyed it. We think ncl have a lot of room for improvement.
the entertainment could have been better we enjoyed the shows that we saw but they were only on for an hour so by 10,30pm there was nothing left to do the spineker bars entertainment was mainly aimed at the Americans and the staff when off duty would take over the dance floor.
we found the food to be very good the service in most restaurants was very attentive the only exception was the blue lagoon we thought they were rude, the best was the le bistro serving excellent French food the only problem is the extra cover charge you have to pay on the speciality restaurants as this can add quite a bit to your over all account at the end of the 2 weeks.
our balcony cabin was lovely nice soft comfortable bed our cabin staff were great couldn't do enough for us, beds turned down every night, fresh fruit everyday, they even did 2 swans kissing out of towels on our anniversary laid across our bed with a little note wishing us a lovely night.
we felt that the service from the bars wasn't very attentive they were slow and looked very uninterested i think this is mainly because they know that there tips are already added to your bill so they will get there tips not matter bad they are which is wrong, this is one of the things we think ncl should stop as like in all service positions tips should be earned and not taken for granted but we could not moan about the tipping as we knew before we went it was to be added to our bill.
we did our homework before we went and made our own way around the cities, it cost us 14 Euros to get from the ship to Pisa thats by bus and train yet people who took the trip with ncl paid over 100 dollars each and they still had to walk for nearly half an hour from the coach to Pisa. you just have to make sure you give yourselves plenty of time to get back.
over all we did enjoy our first cruise, would we go with ncl again? we may in a few years if they make some improvements and drop there service charges and automatic tips that are added to your bar bill. but next time we are considering a cruise and stay with someone else as i did miss some beach time.
